Find out what programs slow down your computer

In this tip I’ll show you how to find the programs that use a lot of resources and that will ultimately slow down your computer when using them. This is useful when you have one or more applications that perform the same tasks and don’t know which one to use.

Let me give you an example. Let’s say that you use Windows Media Player 11 and jetAudio 7 to listen to music. You like both programs the same and you don’t know which one to use. This is where Reliability and Performance Monitor comes in handy. The Reliability and Performance Monitor will show you which of the software will use more resources (CPU usage). The higher the CPU usage, the lower your computer will run.

In my little experiment I found out that Media Player uses fewer resources than jetAudio 7 (although I prefer to use jetAudio because of some cool features that you won’t find in Media Player).

Of course, you can take this further, and use The Reliability and Performance Monitor to compare Disk, Network and Memory performance.

You can apply the same principles when choosing an antivirus software. There is a lot of controversy about what antivirus is the best. One of the capabilities that you should look for in an antivirus is the CPU usage. But also remember that if one antivirus uses less CPU, it doesn’t make it the best.

Watch the video bellow for a short tutorial on how to use The Reliability and Performance Monitor.
