Searches through the start menu can be faster than you think. By default Vista will search the index file, which contains all the files on your hard drive. You can make it skip the index file and thus make it less time consuming. Please note that this will ONLY speed up the searching for applications on your computer but will disable the searching for other files (pictures, movies etc) and folders. You can still search for other files by clicking the start orb, type the filename, and click "Search Everywhere"

Firstly, the title is deceiving. It does not "decrease search time." You're implying that it speeds up the general search function in Windows Vista! All this does is speed up searching for programs on the start menu, by sacrificing the ability to search for anything else on the start menu.
Second, searching for ANYTHING from the start menu is a very convenient feature of Vista. This turns off that cool feature!
